We know how sometimes it can feel like our time is being wasted trying to do our brows, but when you add brow tinting to the equation, your time can be significantly reduced. Who doesn't want a faster start to your day?!
Interested? Awesome! Let’s take a closer look into the world of eyebrow tinting.
What is eyebrow tinting?
Eyebrow tinting is the time saver you’ve been looking for, and the boost your brows need to look fuller and perfectly contoured. This process works by applying an oil based tint to your brow (acting similar to a hair dye) that will help fill in any unwanted patches or areas that may appear sparse.
What are the benefits of getting an eyebrow tint?
Your eyebrows are one of the most prominent features on your face, so making sure they are tidy and presentable may be a high priority for you. Sure, it’s also a time saver when you’re getting ready in the morning, but the true benefit of getting an eyebrow tint is that you have a trained and licensed brow expert there to walk you through the entire process. Your esthetician has been doing this professionally for a while and can suggest different shapes or tints to best suit you and your face shape. Having that second pair of eyes can really change the way you see your brows.
In addition, this method is semi-permanent; that means no fear of commitment! Other processes like microblading can last for much longer, leaving you with the same look for a much longer period of time.
How much does the session cost?
The cost for a tinting session can vary between studios. Some studios may offer multiple types of tint; however, here at Stripped Wax & Beauty, we offer our tinting session at just $50. Your session will include a consultation, a shape up, and your tint – all in one!
How long does an eyebrow tint last?
Like most things in life, when you invest in something you want to make sure the return is worth it. Your brows are no different! When it comes to the longevity of your brow tint, there are a few factors such as skin type and aftercare that can influence how long the tint stays around. If you have oily skin and are frequently exposed to sunlight, there is a chance your brow tint may not last as long.
Generally speaking, a brow tint normally lasts a few days (3-5 days) on the skin and up to six weeks on the brow hair itself. The bottom line: it definitely lasts longer than your at-home brow gel.
What to expect from an eyebrow tint
It is always important to know what to expect prior to committing to any process. Here at Stripped Wax & Beauty, we know that knowledge is power – so let’s set you up with some so that you feel confident walking into any tinting appointment.
Preparing for your eyebrow tinting appointment
When it comes to prep work, just remember: “clean is the best thing.” Make sure to wash your face prior to your appointment. That means washing your eyebrows, and avoiding putting on any makeup or oils for the rest of the day until your appointment. If you happen to forget, that’s okay! Your brow technician should assist you in getting any unwanted product from the area before beginning your treatment.
How eyebrow tinting works
When you arrive at your appointment, your brow technician should discuss your vision for your brows and go over what they think may work best. If you have any concerns or are worried about your sensitive skin and how it may react to the gel, this is the perfect time to bring it up!
Once you’ve chosen your color and discussed your preferred brow shape, your technician will begin by cleaning up your brows via a trim, tweeze, or wax. Next the brow is cleaned using a special solution before the intended brow shape is mapped out. Once your technician has outlined where the tint color should be applied, they will spread the gel from the beginning to the very end of your brows.
Once applied, the tint will need to rest in order to fully saturate the outlined area. How long the tint needs to sit is dependent on the shade and coarseness of your hair.
Eyebrow tinting aftercare for the best results
If you want to keep your beautiful new eyebrows looking the best they can for as long as possible, here are you helpful aftercare tips:
- Avoid getting your brows wet for at least 12 hours - this means water and sweat.
- Avoid any oil-based beauty products as it can break down the dye quicker.
- Try to avoid sunlight or wear a light SPF.
- Use a gentle cleanser around the brow area.
